Recently in New York, L’ezu unveiled this year’s Line and in it was the gorgeous short wedding gown.

It has since then had a warm reception by brides all over. And recently It’s been featured in Style Me Pretty blog. (February 12th. 2010)

So the question arises, will short wedding gowns be the next big thing? Here are a few more images for your viewing pleasure:

A wedding dress is still a wedding dress if it has no train.  A no train or very little train is becoming more and more common.  These days, a lot of brides are getting married outdoors, like on the beach or in a garden.  No one wants their beautiful silk fabrics dragging on the sand or on twigs.  It is also much more lighter and movable.  A train can be quite heavy depending on what kind of fabric your dress is made of.  If your gown is made in silk charmeuse then it won’t drag you down too much.  On the other hand, if your dress is made of double faced duchess silk satin (one of the heavier silk satins) you should probably consider how long your train should be. With that said, you might want to take in consideration your body size as well.  If you are petite, a super long train might look silly.  This is all opinion, not necessarily fact.

Another option I recommend, is adorning your gown with fake bustles.  I think that bustles add character to the back of the dress, no matter what fabric or silohette.  Instead of having a train and bustling it for the reception, why not sew the bustles up so it gives the effect that your dress consists of a train, but you don’t have to deal with the train. It is a win/win!

This is becoming more and more common.  No worries, there are many other options you can choose from.  Veils tend to be too traditional for the modern bride, but there are some veils that are non-traditional as well.

Take the Russian bird cage veil for example. This “veil” is more like a netted headpiece with that sort of veil appeal.  There are many different ways to wear a birdcage.  Since these are more common than ever now, most hairdressers know different ways to drape them that will look best for your personalized style.  This is a perfect accessory to dress up with a feather piece or flower. This look works well for casual weddings, like a beach or vintage wedding, but it also works well for really formal weddings that are in a ballroom with an old Hollywood glam feel. This look dates back to the 20’s, so it has proven to be a timeless classic.  It is fun and unique, yet classy and elegant.

If you are having a totally laid back and casual wedding, flowers always work.  One big organza gardenia complimenting your loosely swept up-do, or little daisies framing your face –this look is always elegant, and beautiful, yet flirty and sexy.  This option is always good for an exotic destination wedding or a small garden ceremony.  Fake flowers are better, especially if it is in door.  This way you won’t have to worry about them wilting or dying –that won’t look so great for the pictures!  If you aren’t sure which flowers to get that look real, consult your wedding coordinator or bridal consultant.

If you are the princess type that loves bling, you might want to opt for a tiara or crystal pins.  A tiara looks good with or without a veil, so don’t hesitate to try one on.  Tiaras are more traditional and work well for much more formal weddings like in a church or castle venue.  There are many different types of hair pins. Some might be larger with many crystals, and some are tiny with just a few crystals. These work well for any look, including the Russian birdcage.  You can wear however much or little pins you want, taking the size of them into consideration. Try switching up the sizes for a more interesting look, by wearing maybe 3 little pins and 2 big ones.

Any look you do, just remember it is your special day and you should look the way you want to!

Many brides think that having to wear white means that they have to wear stark white, which in my opinion tends to make most, if not all brides look washed out. This stark white I am talking about is so white that it is almost blinding! Here at L’ezu, we have named it diamond white –hence the name.  If you want to wear white, I recommend you choose light ivory, for it looks white, unless you put it next to diamond white. I promise, no one will know!

Light ivory works for every skin tone, fair to peachy, olive to dark. It has a very warm tone to it that compliments any skin tone, so you cannot go wrong.  If you want to go with the darker shades of ivory like oyster, I recommend that you try it on first, for it tends to work well only on certain skin tones, like olive and dark. Since there are many different skin tones, it is best to try all of the different shades of white on when trying on wedding gowns, so you can see which one works best for you.  Your bridal consultant can also help determine which one is best, and it also helps to bring a friend along as well.

If you have a skin tone that will work with any shade of white, something you might want to take into consideration, is your wedding venue, setting and theme. If you are having an outdoor wedding in the evening, a lighter ivory might work really well, for it will stand out beautifully! If you are having a vintage, indoor wedding during the day, a darker ivory might work really well. Also, think of the colors of bridesmaids dresses, the flowers, and what shade will compliment your groom, since you will be standing by your man for most of the night!
